Terms of service
Effective date: 7 August 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Self Awareness Lab™ website and your participation in our workshops, consultations, and related offerings (together, the “Services”). By using the site or applying to a cohort, you agree to these Terms.
If you are a parent or guardian enquiring or applying on behalf of a young adult, you confirm you have authority to do so and that these Terms bind you and, where applicable, the participant.
1. Who we are
Self Awareness Lab™ provides structured self-awareness workshops for young adults (from age 16), delivered through guided group sessions and hosted in a residential setting at Casa Shalimar, La Herradura, Spain. For questions: hello@selfawarenesslab.org.
2. The Services
Our programme generally includes five guided group workshop sessions, reflective practices, and time for rest and integration in a retreat setting. Exact schedules, facilitators, and inclusions for a given cohort will be confirmed in writing during the application or booking process.
Website content — including programme descriptions, dates, and imagery — is for general information and may change. A place on a cohort is confirmed only when we expressly accept an application and any required deposit or fees are received according to the booking terms provided to you.
3. Eligibility
- Participants are typically between 16 and 24 years of age. Additional age, maturity, or guardian-consent requirements may apply for a specific cohort.
- Where a participant is under 18 (or the age of majority in their place of residence), a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms and any required consent forms before attendance.
- Admission is selective and limited (often to small groups, e.g. up to 12 participants). We may decline an application at our discretion if we believe the programme is not an appropriate fit.
4. Applications, consultations, and fees
Submitting an enquiry, booking a consultation, or starting an application does not guarantee a place. Fees, payment schedules, cancellation rules, and refund eligibility for a specific cohort will be set out in the offer or booking confirmation we send you. Unless that confirmation states otherwise:
- Deposits may be non-refundable after a stated cooling-off period
- Remaining balances are due by the dates specified in your confirmation
- Travel, visas, insurance, and personal expenses are your responsibility unless expressly included
5. Programme nature and no professional advice
Self Awareness Lab™ offers educational and coaching-informed group workshops focused on self-awareness, values, and personal agency. The Services are not psychotherapy, medical care, psychiatric treatment, or legal, financial, or other professional advice. Participation is not a substitute for counselling or clinical support.
If a participant is in crisis or needs clinical care, they (and their parent/guardian, where relevant) should contact appropriate emergency or professional services. We may require a participant to leave the programme if we reasonably believe continued participation could compromise safety or group wellbeing, in which case refunds will follow the applicable booking terms.
6. Participant responsibilities
Participants (and parents/guardians, as applicable) agree to:
- Provide accurate information during enquiry and enrolment
- Disclose relevant health, accessibility, or support needs that may affect safe participation
- Treat facilitators, hosts, and other participants with respect
- Follow house guidelines at Casa Shalimar and applicable local laws
- Refrain from harassment, discrimination, illegal substances (other than as lawfully prescribed), or behaviour that endangers others
We may remove a participant who materially breaches these expectations without obligation to refund beyond what the booking terms require.
7. Accommodation and travel
Workshop hosting at Casa Shalimar or related venues is part of a retreat experience. Room assignments, shared facilities, and daily schedules may vary. You are responsible for arranging travel to and from La Herradura (or the meeting point we specify), valid travel documents, and adequate travel/medical insurance unless we expressly include otherwise in writing.
8. Intellectual property
All website content, programme materials, brand names (including Self Awareness Lab™), text, imagery, and frameworks are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, distribute, record, or commercially reuse programme materials without prior written consent, except for personal notes taken for your own non-commercial reflection.
9. Website use
You agree not to misuse the site — including attempting to disrupt security, scrape content at scale, or submit unlawful, harmful, or misleading information through forms. We may suspend access to the site or refuse service where we reasonably believe these Terms are violated.
10. Testimonials and feedback
If you share testimonials or feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use them in anonymised or attributed form (as you agree) for legitimate marketing and programme communication, unless you ask us not to.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Self Awareness Lab™ and its facilitators, hosts, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or participation in the Services.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Our total liability for any claim arising out of a paid cohort will not exceed the fees you paid to us for that cohort, except where prohibited.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Services, or your violation of law or third-party rights, except to the extent caused by our wilful misconduct or negligence where such indemnity would be unenforceable.
13. Force majeure
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, epidemics, travel restrictions, venue closure, or government action. In such cases we will work in good faith to reschedule, offer an alternative, or apply the refund policy stated in your booking terms.
14. Privacy
Personal information is handled as described in our Privacy policy, which forms part of how we operate the Services.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date will be revised accordingly. Material changes affecting an already-confirmed cohort booking will be communicated to the contact on file. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms where permitted by law.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence. Courts of Spain shall have jurisdiction, subject to any non-waivable rights you may have to bring proceedings in your local courts.
